At City Dental Clinic, we treat families from infants to grandparents. With your own family dentist, you can develop a familiar and safe relationship for dental treatment. Your own family dentist will take care of all the general dental procedures. This includes both reconstructive and preventive dentistry. Together we can maintain the health of your teeth and your mouth. To make it easier for you, we invite you to regular check-ups, usually once a year, but we can also determine the length of the interval between check-ups together with you. When the check-up is due, we remind you by sending you the agreed-upon appointment time to your own family dentist. It's easy to come to a familiar place. A regular tartar removal and cleaning together with teeth X-rays prevent the need for major dental care. This way, you actually save money.
DENTAL CARE
Clean teeth and a fresh mouth are important for everyone. A good toothbrush is soft and small enough to clean even the farthest back teeth up to the gum line. Brush your teeth in the morning and in the evening; at least once a day at the minimum. The method for brushing is not the most important thing, rather the goal is to get everything clean. However, you shouldn't clean your teeth too roughly. An electric tooth brush is very helpful. Its advantages are the small, soft brush and the fact that the brush itself takes care of the movement. But even with an electric tooth brush, you shouldn't push it too hard against the gums.
Use a tooth paste with fluoride:
The fluoride in the toothpaste strengthens your teeth against cavities, and it contains cleaning agents that keep your teeth white. You need not use more than a smidgen of toothpaste.
Clean between your teeth:
If your gums are bleeding, clean between your teeth even better than before. If the bleeding doesn't stop within a week, consult your dentist. You probably have tartar in your teeth. It has to be removed so that your gums can get better.
Check the results:
A fresh mouth and teeth that feel smooth to your tongue are signs of a clean mouth. From a pharmacy, you can get disclosing tablets which dye the parts of your teeth that need further cleaning.
Ask your dentist for advice:
Nowadays, small cavities in the surface of the tooth are not filled, rather these cavities can be stopped by preventive care. It is impossible for you to notice small beginnings of cavities yourself, particularly if they are located between teeth. Therefore it is important to go to regular check-ups at your dentist. This way, you can prevent these cavities from becoming large enough to require fillings.
When do I need orthodontics?
The dentist monitors the development of a child's occlusion (bite) with regular check-ups. With orthodontics, irregular growth of the jaws can be prevented in the baby tooth stage. The most common reason is that your lower jaw veers to the side when you are biting your teeth together. This can be corrected by the expansion of the upper arch. Orthodontics is usually performed after the first permanent teeth erupt, most often at age 9-12. The goal is to either direct the growth of the jaws or correct the position of individual teeth; often it is both. On the other hand, age is no obstacle for orthodontics, an adult's teeth can also be straightened. The procedure often takes up to 2-3 years, and it is specialist treatment. In public health centers, orthodontics cannot be provided for all the children that want it, rather the children are chosen for orthodontics based on how detrimental their malocclusion is.
